The CBBC houses a BD FACSCalibur flow cytometer in room L4076.  This instrument is equipped with two lasers (488nm and 635nm) and detectors for forward scatter, side scatter, and four fluorescence PMTs.  The PBRC Equipment Committee has approved the addition of a FACSLoader to be installed on the FACSCalibur enabling automated measurements of 40 tubes to be done in sequence with minimal human input.  Data collection and analysis is done with CellQuest Pro software and soon data can be analyzed on our new workstation with FlowJo software.

We strongly encourage anyone interested in utilizing this piece of equipment to contact Marilyn Dietrich to discuss your experiment before hand to ensure that the proper controls and fluorophores are used.  Currently the FACSCalibur is run only by Ms. Roan but training of individual users will be integrated into CBBC policy at a later date.  Samples should be provided in 12 x 75mm tubes at a concentration of approximately 1 x 10^6 cells/tube.  Additional information on the FACSCalibur and helpful links are included below.
