Pediatric Physical Activity and Obesity

Pennington Biomedical Research Center is seeking two postdoctoral research fellows in the area of pediatric physical activity and obesity. The primary responsibilities associated with these positions are: 1) conducting research studies on the prevention and treatment of obesity and related co-morbidities in children and adolescents, 2) assistance in conducting statistical analyses of population datasets, and 3) preparation of research grant applications and peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts and abstracts in the area of physical activity and obesity in children and adolescents.
Current ongoing studies include a family-based behavioral treatment program for childhood obesity with a focus on the African American population; technology-mediated physical activity promotion trials using exergames; and observational epidemiological studies on the facilitators and barriers of physical activity and sedentary behavior in children and adolescents, including the use of ecological momentary assessment, accelerometry, global positioning system tracking, and body composition data derived from magnetic resonance imaging.

Qualifications:
