The Cell Biology and Bioimaging Core (CBBC) provides access to state of the art imaging, analytical, and histological equipment as well as technical expertise and assistance to researchers at the PBRC, LSU's main campus, and outside the LSU university system.
Located centrally in the new Basic Sciences Building, the CBBC occupies two rooms - L4076 and L4016. The imaging and analytical core in L4076 houses a Zeiss 510 META NLO confocal microscope, a 3I Everest imaging system based on a Zeiss Axioplan 2 upright microscope, a Zeiss Axiovert 40 CFL, Zeiss Axioskop 40, Nikon TE-2000U inverted scope, a Molecular Devices FlexStation and a BD FACSCalibur flow cytometer. In L4016 you can find two Microm cryostats (HM 550 and 560 models), a Microm HM 355S rotary microtome and a Vibratome 1500.
For more information about our available equipment please click on the Equipment link to the left. For information about rates to use our equipment please use the Rates link. Please visit the Policies page as it contains very useful information regarding charges and usage of the CBBC.
Currently PBRC personnel may sign up to use equipment on which they have been trained either by contacting one of the CBBC's staff or signing up using the Meeting Request option within Microsoft Outlook. If you currently lack access to L4076 you need to contact a member of the CBBC staff to schedule your appointment. Researchers from outside PBRC may contact the CBBC to set up an appointment with core staff. We are working on improving the methods available to make appointments, view available time slots, manage data and track usage within the CBBC and will post any changes to policy as they occur.
Please feel free to get in touch with either Laura Roan (225.763.2653), Courtney Cain (225.763.2653) or David Burk (225.763.2779) to discuss your current or future project and how we may be able to assist you.
The CBBC is funded in part by a NIH COBRE grant and a CNRU Center Grant. We ask that you kindly add the following acknowledgement to any manuscript submitted that includes data collected in or through the use of CBBC equipment. "This work utilized the facilities of the Cell Biology and Bioimaging Core facilities that are supported in part by COBRE (NIH P20-RR021945) and CNRU (NIH 1P30-DK072476) center grants from the National Institutes of Health."
