Given the complications for metabolic syndrome, it is imperative that we implement effective strategies to improve the underlying pathophysiologic factors contributing to the condition. This is a comprehensive study of botanicals and their effects to modulate pathologic processes leading to the development of metabolic syndrome. Positive findings have great potential for being translated into practical benefits for human health.

Eric Ravussin (PI)
This is a study of the effect of 3 months of dietary supplementation with 45 g of slowly digestible starch on risk factors for the development of type 2 diabetes in people with pre-diabetes (IGT). These starches may influence the gut microbial species which in turn may enhance insulin sensitivity and protect against the development of diabetes.
