Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Population Science
A postdoctoral position is available in the area of population and public health to study the public health burden associated with physical inactivity and obesity. The primary responsibilities associated with this position are: 1) assistance in conducting complex statistical analyses of population datasets, 2) conducting research studies on the public health burden of physical inactivity, obesity and related co-morbidities, and 3) preparation of research grant applications and research papers. The fellowship will be available for at least two years, and the incumbent will perform other activities as assigned by Peter Katzmarzyk, Ph.D., the Associate Executive Director for Population Science. It is anticipated that over the course of two years, the incumbent of this position will develop independent research projects related to the epidemiology of physical inactivity, obesity and health. The Pennington Biomedical Research Center offers a rich collegial research environment with state-of-the-art facilities for computing and the statistical analysis of large, complex datasets. A distinguished list of faculty is involved in such research studies at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center of the Louisiana State University System. Full, Associate or Assistant Professor
Minority and Health Disparities Research
The Pennington Biomedical Research Center invites qualified applicants to apply for a faculty appointment at the Full, Associate or Assistant Professor level in the area of minority health and health disparities research. Individuals with a wide variety of interests will be considered, but preference will be given to individuals whose research aligns with the current strengths of the Center, which revolve around the interactions among nutrition, physical activity, health and chronic disease primarily as it relates to obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and aging. It is expected that the successful candidate will develop an independent and collaborative program of research focused on minority health and health disparities in one of the following domains: nutritional epidemiology, physical activity epidemiology, genetic epidemiology, chronic disease epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, and health promotion. The Center is currently making a significant investment in expanding the Population Science area, and has committed several new faculty positions to the area. All faculty appointments are academic appointments within the Louisiana State University System. The teaching and training that its 85-member faculty are involved in is limited to the mentoring of postdoctoral fellows. Individuals with a wide variety of interests will be considered, but preference will be given to individuals whose research aligns with the current strengths of the Center, which revolve around the interactions among nutrition, physical activity, health and chronic disease primarily as it relates to obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and aging. The Pennington Biomedical Research Center invites qualified applicants to apply for a faculty appointment at the Full, Associate or Assistant Professor level in the area of health economics. Individuals with a wide variety of interests will be considered, but preference will be given to individuals whose research aligns with the current strengths of the Center, which revolve around the interactions among nutrition, physical activity, health and chronic disease primarily as it relates to obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and aging. It is expected that the successful candidate will develop an independent program of research in health economics, and collaborate on studies of the medical, social, ethical, and economic implications of research currently being conducted at the Center. Research approaches to the problem should be comprehensive and may include cost-effectiveness analysis, burden of disease studies, health care utilization, evaluation of health care delivery and health policy, and other innovative approaches. Biostatistician
The Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a research facility of the Louisiana State University System, is seeking a full time biostatistician to work in the Population Science Department to support basic, population and clinical research.The position requires participation in many aspects of research, including design of animal experiments, clinical trials, and epidemiological studies; protocol development, database management, and planning and conducting appropriate statistical analyses. |

Database Manager
The Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a research facility of the Louisiana State University System, is seeking a full time database manager to population science research. The position requires
the development and maintenance of large population datasets from data generated at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center and from public sources. This individual will use data extraction and development tools to assist investigators in retrieving and integrating data from large datasets. This individual will also provide statistical consultation and perform data analysis for investigators.
Candidates must have a Masters Degree with work experience in applied statistics or biostatistics. A strong background in database management and statistical analysis is required. Candidates must be proficient in using statistical software such as SAS, SPSS and STATA and possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Salary is commensurate with experience.
