Postdoctoral Positions for Diabetes and Obesity

 

There are 2 positions open for postdoctoral fellows in our laboratory. Those positions are funded by NIH sponsored projects for the study of inflammation in adipose tissue. The two positions are: (1) how adipose tissue hypoxia induces chronic inflammation in obesity; (2) how inflammation inhibits adipogenesis. The Pennington Biomedical Research Center is the largest obesity research center in the world. It is located in the capital (Baton Rouge city) of Louisiana State and affiliated with the Louisiana State University, USA. Qualifications: Ph.D. or MD, any nationality, strong motivation for advanced academic career, research experience in one or more of the following areas:  adipose tissue biology, signal transduction, inflammation, glucose and lipid metabolism, vascular biology, and biochemistry. The candidate should have skills in cell culture and molecular biology. Following are used routinely in the lab such as Western blot, qRT-PCR, kinase assay, plasmid construction, gene delivery by virus, and transgenic mice. The successful candidate will receive advanced training in molecular metabolism in the positions. They are expected to be independent investigators after the training. Salary starts at $37,000 and will compensates with research experience. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.
